Team Recruitment

“You don’t hire for skills, you hire for attitude. You can always teach skills.” ~ Simon Sinek

Appointing for skill only, clearly indicates that an organisation lack culture and do not consider the relevant soft skills required to enhance the business.

I believe enabling your business for success requires that you considered recruitment based on the following three categories:

  • Values
  • Ability
  • Skill

This does not necessarily make skill the least important, it merely highlights the fact that skill without values and ability, especially in the context of your organisational culture, will simply not be sufficient. This results in poor performance and high staff turnover.

As a leader you have the responsibility to ensure the people you recruit have the same values as the organisation.

As a leader you have the responsibility to ensure the people you recruit have the same values as the organisation. Secondly, you must identify their abilities ensuring you utilise this accordingly in your team structure. Lastly, ensuring that the person has able skill is simply confirmation of the preceding evaluation.

Maybe it is time you start thinking differently about recruitment.

Embrace change, seek alternatives.

Embrace the Nomad in you.
