To Conquer A Mountain

“The man on top of the mountain did not fall there.”

Vince Lombardi

It was Sir Edmund Hillary who in 1953 became the first person to conquer Mount Everest. What is not told, and is so easily forgotten, is the story of a lifetime of effort and sacrifice preceding this accomplishment.

You see, Sir Hillary did not get up one day and decide to climb the highest mountain in the world. No! He was mountaineering from a young age, conquered many other high mountains on his journey of preparation, went to war, learned from the best, scouted Mount Everest many times, prepared tirelessly, failed to summit Everest on other occasions, employed the help of a Sherpa, and on one given day with all coming together, he made it to the top. Success at last.

Those who think any person is self-made or that it is easy to reach the top, clearly don’t understand what is required to be successful. Success is engineered from the ground up. It is structured and hard-earned.

When it is your time to conquer your mountain – it’s best that you are prepared. Start today, start now and maybe, just maybe, someone will soon think that you fell on top of the mountain.

Embrace your mountain. Embrace the Nomad in you.
